A few days ago I was riding on my bike along Madeira drive on Brighton's seafront when I noticed something unusual on the beach volley courts of Yellowave. People were playing with rackets!! A closer look and I quickly realised that it was actually Beach Tennis. For the first time Great Britain was holding the (6th) European Beach Tennis Championships.
21 nations participated to this event which was won by the Italians last year. Italy is by far the country with the most Beach Tennis Courts in the world.
The Polish team is ready...
...while San Marino is planning their attack!
Most teams that day were mixed. Teams are made up of 2 players, although singles can be played on a smaller court.
It was a beautiful day by the sea.
This year, again, Italy won the tournament.
