After my laptop crashed last month, I am still slowly re-installing all my photos and folders and millions of other things that one needs to re-install and move around when changing computers. One positive amongst the hours that it takes to reassemble it all is that I came across photos and folders that I had almost forgotten.
It is very hot in Copenhagen these days so I thought a photo taken last winter would be like eating an ice lolly on a very hot day: refreshing! This image was actually shot right next to the Little Mermaid, a very famous Danish landmark. I think I was probably the only one who saw this heron a few meters away on a walkway by the canal when everyone else was focused on the not-much-bigger-than-a-heron statue. The heron didn't stay long because someone walked passed and involuntarily scared him away. Naturally. Some people are not considerate, now are they?
There's something strange about herons. They can be beautiful when their body is extended (ie. when they are flying), but when they are all shrivelled they look grumpy and old. Still, I love the details on their different feathers.
