The barracks were built in 1795 for the Royal Danish Navy and their family. Today the houses are no longer exclusive to military personnel but also to civilian applicants. The row of houses is called Nyboder which means 'new (small) houses'. Nyboder yellow is the term given in Danish to describe this particular hue of yellow/orange.
There is a clear dominant colour in this photo with splashes of complementary colours (red and green), very strong graphic lines in the door and window that emphasize the sturdy building, and also a human presence that adds interest and an emotional impact with the eye contact.
