This is a fact... cycling is huge in Denmark! Forget Amsterdam, the real bicycle culture is in Copenhagen. Danes cycle everywhere, all the time, day and night. They go to work on their bike, go shopping on their bike, go meet friends on their bike, go to the restaurant on their bike, go to professional meetings on their bike, etc...
Nearly 40% of the population in Copenhagen ride their bike on a daily basis. There are twice as many bikes as there are cars in Denmark!
No, this is not a bike shop, it is indeed a parking area for bikes! Near busy train stations, such as Norreport Station above, there are so many bicyles parked that they constructed those structures where you simply park you bike. It's free of course but it's best to have a bike that is rather light for easy lifting.
Copenhagen is apparently the first Bike City in the world, and was last year voted the 'Best City for Cyclists' with over 390 kilometres of designated bike lanes.
