Tallinn wasn't on my list of places to go - to be honest I had hardly ever heard of it. But circumstances can be in your favour sometimes. It was an unpredicted and rather last minute trip so I had no expectations whatsoever. The Autumn colours were a massive bonus to my appreciation of the city.
I am not usually keen on wide views over cities from high vantage points but the architecture of the Old town is just breathtaking. This photo was taken from St Olaf's Church built in the 12th century. The Church burned down 3 times throughout its existence, and for about 70 years in the 17th century it was the highest building in the world at 158m. It is now 125m high with about 260 steps!!
