This is not the most unusual view of the Blue Mosque but it is one that not everybody notices when visiting Istanbul. The first floor of Hagia Sophia takes you around the indoor balconies of the former mosque. While the path is not very pretty and looks more like they are refurbishing the first floor, everybody naturally looks either at the ceiling or the magnificent vast indoor space formed by the gigantic dome in the centre of the building. However, a photographer should look up, down, front and back.
There were a few small windows along the wall on the first floor which offered this view above. I was on my toes since the window was a little high but the stretching was well worth it. Evidently, if one person does it, everyone else does it, so it attracted a few people.
